What to do with my Wedding Dress After the Wedding

You may be the kind of person that wants to keep their wedding dress forever as a keepsake, handing it down to your children or grandchildren. That probably is not you, however, since you are getting married in 2020+ and most likely have bills to pay and limited closet space.

Not the most romantic reality, but reality it is. It’s more likely that styles will change and your future children and grandchildren won’t think your dress is “them”, which will be the polite way of saying that dress is sooooo 2020’s.

You know yourself and can guess whether you will honestly need the wedding dress again. The answer is probably not!

It’s far better to get what use you can out of your dress and put it up for sale as soon as you can. We suggest getting you gown listed on websites such as PreOwnedWeddingDresses or Once Wed within 6-12 months of the wedding to ensure that its value does not drop exponentially.

Since many engagements happen over the holidays, dresses are often bought in January, making it the perfect time to list your wedding dress online.

What’s the point of letting your dress become a relic of a wonderful wedding when it can instead make another bride’s dreams come true? In the end, do what makes you happy. Someone out there may be looking for the perfect dress at a reasonable price, and if helping them sounds good to you, we say go for it.
